Skandagupta, conqueror of the Huns
Skandagupta is considered the last great ruler of the Gupta empire. He is said to have ruled from 455 AD to 467 AD. His greatest achievement is considered to be the victory over the Huns and saving India from the menace of the Huns. At a time when the Huns were ravaging what was left of the Western Roman Empire, this victory over the Huns is quite an achievement. The Bhitari and the Kahaum pillars of Uttar Pradesh carry tales of Skandagupta’s success.
