Chandragupta Vikramaditya, Chakravartin and vanquisher of Shakas

Perhaps the most illustrious Indian emperor ever. Ruled the Gupta empire from 375 AD to 415 AD. Conquered India from Bengal to Gujarat and from the Himalayas to Narmada. The Mehrauli Iron Pillar inscription says of his forces reaching the seven rivers system of the Indus and the Balkh country in present-day Afghanistan. His biggest accomplishment was the final vanquishing of the Western Shakas and exterminating Shakas from India. Shakas had been ruling and dominating the North West and parts of North India after the Mauryas and Indo-Greek Kings. The famous nine Gems including Kalidasa are said to have resided in Chandragupta’s court.
